The most distant way in the world is not the way from birth to death. It is when I stand in front of you that you don’t understand that I love you. You may have been looking hard for the best for you without realizing the first one among dozens of who you have seen is the best for you. People always run thousands of miles to search for the best where they think the best should be. But it proves the best was around you.
Looking for supplier sometimes is like looking for love. You may ignore the one who is the closest to you in distance in the first place. After days of exhausting trips, you tell yourself that you have found the best one at the beginning of these trips.
My boss flew from south Korea to visit 4 factories of pepper grinder in Cixi Ningbo. A factory was 20-minute away by taxi from where we started, the closest one. The other three were 2-hour away by taxi. He decided to put A to the last and visit the fastest ones first. We designed to visit all of them in one day. And the time we would arrive at A was 4:30PM. We notified A about the time we would arrive.
But things always happen. We went into traffic jam. So many construction trucks were on the way, which made efficiency sharply slowed down and caused jams at several crossroads. It took more than 2hous for us to reach the first factory. Since the three factories were not at the same place, it cost time from the one to the other. We almost already spent all the day when we came back.
It was already 5:20PM. And it was getting dark. Everybody on this trip was exhausted. One factory we had visited was very good and suitable. If we gave up A, the closest one, it should be fine. A called and told us they were still waiting. So we continued our trip. It turned out that A was the most suitable one not because of the modern equipment or the beautiful office but because it met the requirements at the most attractive price. It matched up with my boss.
We had spent all the energy and time to prove A, which was around us, was the most suitable one. But what was lucky was that we never gave up eventually. So we found it.
Human being is curious of unknown things that are far away and may be harmful. But don’t ever forget to look back in the course of your adventure. You may have missed the best for you. Do always give chance to yourself and the others when you are with them.
